Blood Drive Canceled

It is with regret that we announce that the April 25th Blood Drive has been canceled.  The cancelation comes at the request of the American Red Cross.   They say that blood supplies are well above the required level so additional supplies are not needed.   They also ask that we consider a late June or early July drive.  That request will be considered by the Committee.

Thanks to all who worked so hard to make the drive happen.  Your efforts are appreciated.

Finding Holy Ground at Nightwatch 2009

nightwatch

"Nightwatchers" outside St. Paul's Cathedral, Detroit

From Barb Heany…

It was a night filled with inspiration, discoveries, new found friendships and just plain good fun for 8 of St. Paul’s youth at the 2009 Nightwatch held at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Detroit on March 21 and 22. Inspired and fashioned after New York City’s Nightwatch program, held at St. John the Divine since 1973, youth groups from all over the diocese came together to experience an amazing night searching for and discovering their Holy Ground with God. A tour of the cathedral, a labyrinth walk and a lesson in hand bell-ringing were just a few of the many activities that the youth engaged in. A candle-lit midnight worship service in which the youth creatively expressed themselves in preparation of the readings, prayers of the people and benediction and dismissal was awe-inspiring. Nightwatch was truly a night to be remembered. Just ask any of our participating youth: Courtney Irwin, Margaret Kariuki, Erikah Alvarez and guest Mikayla Duncan, Thomas Laub, Clare Becket and Drew and Anna Krupka. They are all looking forward to Nightwatch 2010!

A hardy group (it was cold!) of parishioners gathered this morning, Saturday, April 4th, to prepare for Holy Week and Easter. Altar Guilders cleaned and polished silver and brass and made Palm Crosses for Passion Sunday. Another group of Lectors practiced for the Dramatic Reading that always is our Gospel reading on Palm Sunday. Around the building bushes were trimmed, leaves were raked, and wind blown debris from the winter was collected and removed. Interiorly, closets messed from winter, were cleaned and straightened. Windows were washed inside and out. In all 40 + people were present and the pleasure of one another was exchanged. Now, On to Holy Week!!! Please note the Schedule of Services above. If you plan on coming to the Maundy Thursday experience, please make a reservation by calling the office.
