Much To Be Thankful For

It’s Thanksgiving morning – got up about 7:30 – You get up early when the baby starts to cry. The sun is shinning brightly. The Turkey is in the oven – no parden for this bird. The parade just came on and the family is gathered. Life is good and the things for which we all shoud be thankful are so obvious.

Linda and I want to thank you for all your expressions of sympathy offered the past few days and the gift of time that allows us be here in South Carolina after a whirlwind  trip to New York. .
Enjoy this day with those whom you love and enumeratet the gifts God offers in your life.  See you all on Monday.
Gordon and Linda

Rabbi Sandy Sasso at St. Paul's – November 15 & 16

From Martie Repaskey in this month’s St. Paul’s News:Sandy Sasso-08

Rabbi Sandy Sasso, a widely acclaimed children’s author, will be the guest speaker at St. Paul’s for two days in November. Excitement is mounting regarding a planned ecumenical event on Sunday, November 15 at 6 p.m.. Rabbi Sasso will present the story of Cain and Abel, and the lesson “Finding the Fruits of Peace” to elementary-age children from St. Paul’s, Shaarey Zedek and Kehillat Israel. A local artist will assist her in facilitating the children’s creative response to the story, followed by a cookie and ice cream party for all the children.  On Monday, November 16, at 1 p.m., Rabbi Sasso will join grandparent-type folk at St. Paul’s 4F’s program. Her primary presentation which will take place Monday evening at 7 p.m. promises to be an interesting topic: “Nurturing the Spiritual Imagination of Our Children.” Schuler Books will offer many of Rabbi Sasso’s endearing, beauti-fully illustrated children’s books after each event. Some of the books she has written include Butterflies Under our Hats, God’s Paintbrush, In God’s Name, A Prayer for the Earth, and several books for parents, including The Divine Fingerprint and God’s Echo: Exploring Scripture with Midrash. This event has involved several people in the planning, from St. Paul’s and from Shaarey Zedek. St. Paul’s Parish Life committee will be involved with hospitality each evening. This opportunity has been made possible by the Shawver Fund for Special Programs.
