Dear All,
So, today it begins. Holy Week and the journey we join with Jesus. From the highs of dinner with his closest friends – washing their feet – sharing the bread and the wine – to the lows of a betrayal by one he loved — the slow march through the city of Jerusalem – to death on a roughhewn wooden cross as his mother stands below. Not a journey we want to take but one we are invited into as a sign of our love for Jesus and his love for us.
I think of what is going on in the world . . . this morning I glimpsed a bit of the World International Skating Championships being held in Prague and the skater was from the Ukraine. He could no longer live in his home country but was living now with his coach. To imagine you can’t live in your own country. While on the news channel it was discussing the longer and longer wait times at the airports; the new fuel surcharges being added to UPS packages, and the deadlocked congress.
When I think of these things and the many others causing chaos in our world, journeying with Jesus doesn’t seem to be too daunting or too much to ask. It’s only a week. A time to slow down a bit, add a prayer or two to your prayer life, and ponder your life as a child of God. To remember how valued and loved you are and to examine how you live your life as a Christian. It’s only a week. I hope you will join me this Holy Week and realize you are not alone but one among many on the journey.
Please remember to sign up for Maundy Thursday dinner and Easter breakfast!
Remember your prayers. Have a safe Spring Vacation to our families.
Blessings to you and yours,
Karen+
